The JDAA holds
a Korean-style Jindo Dog show every Fall in the Los
Angeles or Orange County area. Respected judges
are invited from Korea to evaluate and judge Jindos
presented to them. This show is open
to all styles of Jindos (papers, paperless, gyupgae,
heutgae, etc.) and to all kinds of Jindo owners (novice,
experienced, Korean, Americans, etc.). The
only true pre-requisite is the willingness to learn
and of course, good sportsmanship.
In the past, shows
were conducted through a rank system, but currently,
shows are conducted according to the champion system.
Shows can be adapted
to the judge's requests, but usually Jindos are divided
into age groups, sex, and in certain catagories, color.
The ages are usually
divided into 3 puppy classes, 1 adolescent class, and
1 adult class.
- 3 months to 6 months - puppy (Ja
Kyun Jo)
- 6 months to 1 year - puppy (Yoo
Kyun Jo)
- 1 year to 1.5 years - puppy (Yak
Kyun Jo)
- 1.5 years to 2 years - adolescent
(Mee Sung Kyun Jo)
- 2 years and up - adult (Sung Kyun
Jo)
Winners are picked in each catagory*
and the champion of the show is traditionally the winner
of the adult male class. If the adult class is split
by color, there can be more than one champion to a show.
Past Adult Winners
based on the champion system are as follows:
